Think about you life. Actually, let's think about today. You woke up, maybe ate some breakfast, went about your day. Now, someway, somehow, you've ended up here. From the moment you woke up this morning until now, have you made any mistakes? Have you done some things that you probably shouldn't have done? Have you thought some things that you shouldn't have thought? I know I have. But the thing is, you see, is that Jesus never did.
God is the Creator of everything. All animals, all people, all places. It's quite amazing, actually. Even more amazing, I propose, is that God is holy. He has never made a mistake. He has never done or thought anything wrong. He is completely and entirely perfect.
The thing is that we, humans, were created to have a relationship with God, but then the first humans sinned. They did the one thing that they were told not to do, and because they did, all of the human race is fallen. Now, because of that, we—unholy people—cannot enter into God's presence—which is completely holy. But God wants to have a relationship with us. There has to be a way.
And there is, because God made a way. From the beginning of time, God knew that He would send His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to live an entirely perfect life, and then to die a brutal death that He did not deserve, so that we could be forgiven.
Think about it. Jesus, who did nothing wrong, took the death and the punishment that God required for forgiveness of sins, so that we wouldn't have to.
Jesus was beaten by human authorities. He was flogged to the point that His back was cut down to the bone. He was barely alive by the time they were done with Him. Jesus was spit on. Jesus was mocked. He was forced to wear a crown that was twisted together with sharp and excruciating thorns, only to mock His claim that He was a king, and yet in fact He was.
After all this, Jesus—who never sinned—was forced to carry a brutally heavy cross, and then He was nailed to it. Pound after pound, the nails were driven into His hands and His feet. Alone, being made fun of, humiliated, Jesus hung on the cross for nothing He did wrong. Why? Because He loved you.
Jesus loved you that much that He took the cross for you and for me. He could've stopped it—He was God! But yet He didn't, because He knew that, that was the only way for us to be forgiven and have eternal life with God in heaven. Anyone who would take my place like Jesus did deserves my life and my all, and a decision to follow Him and trust Him with all that I am. He took the punishment that we should've received. While being nailed on the cross, He took on our guilt, our shame, our jealously, all of our gossip. Our hatred of others. He took on the punishment of murders, of evildoers, of adulterers, so that they—and we—could be forgiven. It's an open invitation for everyone and anyone, right now, today.
If you believe this today, and I pray with everything that I am that you do, please pray this prayer below from your heart, and trust that Jesus can forgive you of anything and everything that you've done in your entire life. You are not too far gone to come to God and receive His love and forgiveness. He can—and will—change your life forever, and your eternity.
There has to be a punishment for human sin. You can either receive the payment of your sin that Jesus took on the cross, or you can choose to suffer yourself for your sin in eternity, but God made a way for you. God made a way for me. And not only did He make a way by dying, He didn't stay dead, but God rose Him from the dead three days later, like the Bible predicted thousands of years before it even happened. God made a way through Jesus' death, and God has given us victory because Jesus is now alive.
Dear God, thank You for the truth that You are perfect, and You are holy. I know that I am a sinner, and I know that I am the reason that Jesus had to suffer what He did and die they way He did. I ask for your forgiveness, Father, and accept Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection as the payment for my sin, and I ask that Jesus would come and live in my heart forever and be my Savior, starting today and into forever. I love you, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
