You’ve all heard at one time or another that God works in mysterious ways. Well, I experienced that on Saturday when God planted it in my heart to right this blog.
I was doing laundry when I had to empty the dryer vent, but in my way was the laundry basket. Now, instead of going around the laundry basket, I stepped over it. Before I stepped over it, I didn’t really realize how big it was. Then I realized that God is much of the same thing. You don’t realize how big He is until you experience Him.
So maybe that was a silly analogy, but it’s true. Look at the stars. There are countless stars in our galaxy, but even more then that, there are billions of galaxies in the universe, and God knows every one of them by name! If God is big enough to create and name the starts, and then keep track of them, this can only amaze us! He is bigger then the universe itself!
Think of the sunsets. You go outside on a clear summer and admire all of the beautiful colors in the sky. While you are doing that, someone is admiring the sunrise. In other areas of the world, someone is admiring a thunderstorm, or a rainbow, or even a snowstorm. Through all this, God is Sovereign and in control! All of creation is His and displays His glory and Power! (Ps. 19:1, Romans 1:20).
With this idea, we have to realize how intimate God is as well. Although He’s controlling the sunsets and thunderstorms, He’s working in our life for our good. He hears every prayer, every cry, and praise through the thunderstorms and the sunsets. He cares about you! (1 Peter 5:7). This great big God, the God of the universe, wants an intimate relationship with you!
This is why God sent His Son, Jesus, to die: so that you and I could have a relationship with God, because without Jesus, we would be eternally separated from God, and since you are His child, there’s no way that He would want that.
Take time today to admire God’s creation and how big He is, but don’t underestimate His power. Yes, He loves you, and He wants you to be obedient to His Word and His command. Please, for your good and His glory, be obedient to His command, and You will rest in the loving arms of God, the maker of heaven and earth.
