Hinds' Feet is a beautiful allegory of Much-Afraid, a girl who has crooked feet and a crooked smile, however she loves to work for the Shepherd in His vineyard in the Valley of Humiliation where she lives. However, her family is very mean to her, members of her family including Craven Fear, Pride, and Bitterness, along with others. One day, Much-Afraid receives an invitation to go to the High Places with the Shepherd, (who is God in this book), and she accepts, holding on to the Shepherd's promise that she will receive hinds' feet and healing once she gets to the High Places. However, the journey is anything but easy.
Her journey to the High Places includes things that a Christian must ultimately come to do in their walk with Christ, things like getting rid of fear, learning complete obedience, and complete surrender to God's will. As Much-Afraid continues on her journey, she learns many lessons that are applicable to today's world.
One reason I loved this book was because of the way it was so beautifully and strategically written. You will be able to relate this book to any circumstance you are in right now. This book includes Scripture, and is carved around the Scripture of Habakkuk 3:19, which says "The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights."
I highly encourage you to take Much-Afraid's journey if you choose to add this to your summer (or any season's) reading list! I promise that you will be blessed by it! I laughed during parts, and I cried during parts. The presence of the Lord is overwhelming in the book, and it really radiates out of the pages into your own life, touching your own heart!
If you have any questions about the book, or if you have read it yourself, I want to know! I'd love to chat about it! Comment below or contact me via Facebook or the "contact me" form on the front of the website. Also, when I read a book from now going forward, I will post my review on my blog page! Hopefully it will help you weed through which books your may like or not like. If you have any recommendations for me, I'd love to hear those as well! Thanks, and as always, glory to God! :)
Until next time,
Stephanie
